Typical winters day

The one thing I’ve come to realise during COVID is that you can’t be in control. Many things change each day and you never know what to expect. However, there is one thing that has remained constant.. what a winters day is like!

The last couple of days have been typical winter days. Yesterday it was miserable, constant drizzling rain, grey skies and that ‘feels like’ temperature that cuts right through you.

Today it started of good, there was even blue skies and the suns warmth was great. But within about two hours, the grey sky returned and now I’m snuggled up on the lounge with a warm cup of tea!

To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake it is necessary to stand out in the cold. Aristotle

Now, where I live, it doesn’t snow. But I love this quote and I can take meaning from it.

To truely appreciate things in life, you need to experience it. Whether that be certain moments, happiness, love, grief, feelings, friendship, experiences, whatever. And that leads me to think about silver linings.

Every cloud has a silver lining, and the one thing COVID has taught me, is that you need to focus on those silver linings and not the dark clouds that we physically see on a cold winters day.

But you have no silver linings without a cloud

So think about your silver linings. Take time to be mindful and be grateful for what you have, and what you don’t have. These are your silver linings and we are pretty damn lucky to have them.
