When life gives you lemons

They say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade…

It’s been a tough day to be honest. I can’t pinpoint what it is, but I’ve had a pretty flat day. Maybe it’s the Monday blues, or maybe isolation just got the better of me today. I’m normally a positive person, but I found today, that most things annoyed me or I was just feeling sad.

The important thing though, is that I recognised this. I’m pretty self aware, and as the day wore on, I decided to realise that the lemonade glass was actually half full. As the day past I had the inner strength to pull myself up, and sit back and enjoy a glass of lemonade that had been poured for me.

So if your feeling a little flat, here are my tips to help you make lemonade with those juicy lemons…

  1. Look around and write down three things that you can see that you are thankful for. This redirects your mind to positive thoughts.
  2. Look at photos that simply make you smile. Create a folder on your phone and save those photos there. Then all you need to do is open it up, and presto, you won’t be able to wipe the smile off your face!
  3. Take deep breaths and centre yourself. It’s amazing how being mindful can have such a positive effect on you.
  4. Finally, this one is specific to me and my personal circumstances. I appreciate my husband and be thankful that he loves me unconditionally, and I talk to my dog, and even though he can’t answer me back, his love radiates from him, and that makes me smile. 🐶
